Women of Walkern

At the start of 2024, WHS were thrilled to be awarded funds from Heritage Lottery toward a two-year project called Women of Walkern (WoW). This project highlights the forgotten and unsung stories of generations of women in the village and beyond.

A number of events have been held with a focus on Women of Walkern, these include;

– Strawplaiting (learning and sharing)
– Walkern Fair (2024 and 2025)
– Jam and Jeruselum Tea Party
–Trip to Ely
– International Women’s Day
– Walkern Hall Country Fair
– Women of Walkern Review Evening
– Cuckold Riding and Village Riot
– Elizabeth Kingsley and the Bakers of Walkern
