On Saturday 8th November 2025, the Walkern History Society invaded the White Lion to tell the story of Mary “Poll” Andrews, Walkern’s 1848 Cuckold Riding and the riot that ensued. The immersive story-telling event was held at the White Lion pub. Professional story teller, Amy Pryke played the role of Mary Andrews, whose spiraling life caused the events.

Members of the Walkern History Society and the Walkern Players supported Amy in acting out parts and playing Rough Music with bells, pots and pans creating a wonderful atmosphere.

There were three performances throughout the day, playing to a packed house each time.
