Speaker Meeting : Thursday 25 September

Join us on Thursday 25 September at WSCC from 7.30pm to learn how Alistair Hodgson restored a Wooden Fighter Jet

Alistair Hodgson has been a volunteer at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum in London Colney since 2006, and worked at the Museum for three years as the first full time Curator, during which period he was heavily involved in the development of the exhibitions for the Museum’s new Lottery-funded Hangar which opened in 2020.

For the past nineteen years Alistair has led a small team restoring the Museum’s Sea Venom, a 1950s naval jet fighter aircraft that is partially made from wood: the task has involved a lot of historical research as well as the obvious practical work, but the restoration is almost complete and Alistair will tell the story of how a historic aircraft has been brought back to life.

Besides his work at the de Havilland museum, Alistair is currently the Curator of the Bunker Museum at Hatfield Police Station, which tells the story of the de Havilland Company in the Art Deco building that was it’s former headquarters.
