Letter from Humbert, Son & Flint to Rev JC Wright

Humbert, Son & Flint, Watford, Herts (and Lincolns Inn Fields, corner of Serle St) London WC

To Rev JC Wright, 13 Old Quebec St, Hyde Park

30th October 1888

Mr Dear Sir

Enlargement of Walkern Churchyard
I am duly in receipt of yours of the 29th as to the above.

I scarcely know the legal formalities which have to be gone through but take it that a simple deed of gift only will be required from Lord Essex to the parish of Walkern of the land for the enlargement of the churchyard.

I apprehend that Lord Capell and also Lord Essex’s Trustee will have to be parties of the deed or at all events consenting parties.

Plans have been prepared and the whole case laid before the solicitors acting on behalf of Lord Capell (Messrs Rodgers & Whately of 17 Lincolns Inn Fields, London, WC) and also to Mr WJ Boodle (of 53 Davies St. Berkeley Square W) Lord Essex’s Trustee, and I propose to put you in direct communication as soon as I can ascertain the proper channel through which the negotiation must be conducted.

I assume that the parish authorities will contribute to the legal and other expenses incidental to the conveyance of the land, the diversion of the footpath and also the fencing of the land, and that Lord Essex is not to be called upon to contribute any money payment

I am my dear Sir
Yours Faithfully
Chas R Humbert
