This book has been created as part of the legacy of the Heritage Lottery Fund Grant, received in 2015, for the celebration of Walkern’s part in the 800th Anniversary of the Magna Carta. It is not intended to be a complete history of Walkern but a taste of the famous links to its past which were unknown to many before the formation of the Walkern History Society; a description of how Walkern History Society came about and the events leading to the Magna Carta weekend and its legacy. We have tried to cover everything that has happened in the last 5 years but inevitably some events will have been missed.
