International Women’s Day

WHS highlighted International Women’s Day on 8th March with displays of “A Woman’s Lot”. From the relative freedoms and legal standing of Anglo Saxon women, to how it all changed with Norman “coverture” bolstered by church doctrines, so that married women had no legal status whatsoever, to how this gradually changed, with special reference to Suffragettes and Suffragists
